To study language.

We are studying English now. Why are we studying English? Because, it is the most useful language in the world. English has the second large of speakers and which is spoken by largest number of countries. More than 100 countries are spoken English and there are official standard to use which international document like passport, etc…

We chose second language that is English, but now, I want to say how to choose third language. First of all, it is important to consider not only the population of language speakers, but also the geographic distribution of these languages.  Some languages have large populations of native speakers but are used almost a few countries.  On the other hand, other languages have small populations of native speakers but are used in many different countries as an official or national language. For instance, Chinese has the largest number of speakers, which is more than one billion, but just 5 countries are accepted for official or secondary language. In contrast, French has slightly over than 250 million however it is used in 35 countries.

Secondly, each language give you different challenging level. For example, Korean and Japanese are quite similar. If you know Korean or Japanese, it depends on person, but it takes less than any other languages. Because, there have same grammar system and vocabulary, which has a bit difference pronunciation. On contrary, if they try to learn English, French, Spanish, etc, are kind of challenging menu. But it is different for English users. It could be challenging Korean and Japanese.

The last one is motivation. You should push yourself to motivate and positive to learn the language. If you are in pessimistic you never get to the goal. Enjoy the study and get a passion. Just keep going, you can do it!

Language Learning Habits

Hi, guys. Today I will tell you my partner Areeya’s language learning habits.

She started learning English at Primary school. She wanted to learn English because she wants to speak with people who came from other country. We did some tests and we found out that her
learning style is “The Doer”, which means learning by doing something. She said she always practice
her speaking with her homestay mother.

And she recorded new vocabulary by reviewing after class. She said she isn’t nervous about making mistakes because everybody came to school to learn English. She thinks she need to work on more her speaking, so she is going to join some speaking groups to get more practice.

An Interview with Vaiana

Hi guys,

What’s up? Today I’m here to talk about an interview that I had with my new classmate, Vaiana. The interview was about her language learning habits and I learned some cool things about her!

First of all, Vaiana is a kiwi! Yes, she is a New Zealander, are you surprised? Me too. She told me she was born and lived in New Zealand for three years, then she moved to New Caledonia, where she has been living since then, as a result she isn't fluent in English. Now she has come back to learn English in her birth city, Auckland.

She started learning English in intermediate school, which is called middle school in her country. She said she was motivated to learn English because it's her native language and she couldn't learn before. Her learning style is the Doodler (visual). She can record new words with images or pictures. The most interesting thing about this is because I asked her how she remembered new vocabulary and she told me she had the images and pictures in her mind, so it came from her memory and she could remember the new words. It’s awesome!

Talking about what she thinks that she needs work more on, she said she should practice more speaking and writing and she wanted to do this every day. She always reviews her work from class when she doesn't understand something. She also likes practice listening and reading while she’s watching movies with subtitles. She said she was a little bit nervous about making mistakes, but today was her first class, so I told her that it was normal and I make mistakes every day since I've been here, but I don't give up. So, I’m glad to meet her!
Vaiana, welcome to our class!

DAICHI

Hey mates how are you?
I interviewed my friend, Daichi, and I’m going to tell you a little bit about when and how he started to learn English.  He began studying at 15 years old and his mainly motivation was and still is MONEY!! Learning English in his profession is a good way to exceed others.
His learning styles are visual, auditory and kinaesthetic, so listening to music, reading articles/books are the preferred Daichi’s activities outside class. Using social media is a useful way to study as well, but unfortunately he said that he’s not used to review his works from class and he knows that it would help him a lot.
Sometimes, he is afraid of making mistakes while speaking because he gets shy easily. But, one way proposed by Daichi to improve his English is to get a foreign girlfriend!!!! Ladies, just call him.

Community Spirit, do you have it?

Hi everyone,

How are you getting on? Today I’m going to talk about Community Spirit. First of all, I would like that you think about this. What is Community Spirit to you? Your group of friends or colleagues in your job or school is a kind of community? Do you participate of some kind of this? Do you feel the community spirit? When I think about community I always remember the past, when everybody knew each other and people just used to greet everyone on the streets, but when I look to present or future, I really don’t know what to think about it.

I used to know my neighbours when I was younger. I would live in an apartment’s villa, where everyone knew about other’s life, and there I could feel the community spirit. There lived almost 150 different families, which family with their particularities about size, age or number of members, but we were such as a big family. In parties time everybody would do something, like a handmade cake or put balloons, and we celebrated together! It was a special time and, nowadays, I really miss it.

I’ve met my older neighbours since I was child, because my grandparents used to live in my house, but my older neighbours are passing away, one after another, and what do I know about the new ones? I don’t meet my new neighbours; actually, I really don’t want meeting them! They don’t respect anybody and are usually unfriendly.  Why are they like that? Maybe, they missed the community spirit or people are too stressed, which their own business that don’t have time, patient or desire in meeting new people. When I said ‘people’, I was included me!

Like I was speaking before, what can I expected about the future? Today I reckon that I changed my mind when I arrived in New Zealand, where people are respectable and friendly with everyone. I thought community spirit couldn’t exist more, but I was wrong and now I believe if you have good quality life, which we can find in some developed countries such as New Zealand, you'll be able to feel the community spirit. Do you believe this?

See you soon…
Hello guys!
I’m going to talk about languages of the world. Actually I want to talk about the best languages in the world.
I chose four  languages that are best in my opinion. There are English, Italian, Russian and Portuguese.
Okay let’s start with English. English is an international language, which is understand for anyone in any regions. It’s allows you to communicate with other nationalities. It's not my mother language but I have learnt how to use it right. It's awesome. English can be a bit difficult with pronunciation and spelling sometimes but on the whole it is much simpler due to no different genders and endings.
The second language is Italian. A language which is simply a beautiful music to hear. So rhythmic and romantic to listen and to speak, and i like it so much. When you're speaking it you're like singing or expressing your real feelings and emotions
The third one is Portuguese. It has some words and phrases that only those who speak Portuguese can really understand, what this word or phrase means. For example: Saudade, that's the only word that exists only in Portuguese and it's mean miss. I think Portuguese is very romantic  language.
The last one is Russian. My native language is Kazakh, but I really like Russian. Best language to express any concrete sense of the situation, it is a deep and very exact language. Russian language, which is used by writers to create masterpieces very beautiful. But actually it is very unintelligible language, some expression is impossible to understand if you're not a native speaker. I think that all languages are very interesting and beautiful.

Thank you for your attention.
